Site Description

Formerly agricultural  land this greenfield site is triangular in shape and extends to approximately 4.14 ha (10.24 acres) in size and slopes gently down to the A28.

The residential development is to the southern end of the site on c. 1.2 ha(approximately 3 acres) in size with the balance allocated as open space/recreational facilities

Location

The site is situated on the north eastern outskirts of the village of  Westfield and adjoins the A28.The village itself provides a village shop , newsagents, butchers shop, two pubs, hairdressers, St. John’s the Baptist  Church dating back in part to the 12th Century, primary school, bowls club, vineyard and business park. Schools for all ages are found within the surrounding villages and towns. There is open land/cricket pitch to the east, housing and doctors surgery to the South West and the proposed new playing field for football with changing rooms to the North of the residential development.

The historical and beautiful town of Battle is approximately 5.9 miles whilst Hastings is approximately 4.9 miles.  Both offer good shopping, schooling and sporting facilities for all ages together with main line stations having services to London Charing Cross.

Planning Information

A change of use of the land to sports and community facilities was granted consent on the 2nd February 2007 under application number RR/2007/545/P. This has subsequently lapsed with a new  consent granted under ref  nos RR/2018/761/P dated 9th May 2018.

Outline planning consent has been granted by Rother  District  Council under reference no: RR/2009/322/P for the construction of  up to 39 dwellings, subject to the Section 106 Agreement.

A reserved matters application for  layout scale, appearance, soft and hard landscaping was submitted under reference  RR/2017/1293/P with approval dated 23rd October 2018

All other reserved matters have been discharged with the exception of condition 12 (Construction Methodology Statement).  

Application ref nos RR/2018/766/P water attenuation details is currently being considered with an anticipated consent in the very near futurApplication RR/2019/1067/P dated 12th July 2019 consented the changing rooms & associated parking which was previously approved under applications RR/2011/2114/P and RR/2014/2746/P.
