The site is located east of Canterbury (5 miles) in the village of Westbere. The area is sparsely developed with woodland to the west and a residential properties to the south and east.
The site is roughly rectangular in shape, has a level topography and is approximately 2.44 hectares / 6 acres in size.
Canterbury City Council granted detailed planning consent on the 7th April 2015 for the demolition of the former Spires Academy and the construction of 80 houses on the site (planning reference: CA/13/02349/FUL).
